The following formats are outlined in the book for those who want to work on their own issues and within their groups.

  • Individual Work: through personal reading and reflection
  • Small Group Sharing: through personal reading, reflection a Healing Circle is formed
  • Group Work: Personal learning transferred to a group’s agenda for change
  • Focal Support Group: An intense 10 session experience of the Healing Circle

Presentations with Facilitated Leadership

Three Hour/One Day Workshop on Individual Racial Sobriety

This three to six hour workshop reviews the Recovery from Racisms® process and presents the method of using the Stages of Intervention and the Stages of Racial Sobriety for personal and small group formats. (Directory of Facilitators)

One Day Workshop on Working Groups and Racial Sobriety

This six hour workshop takes the Recovery from Racisms® approach and demonstrates its use with committees and working groups that are designing antiracism programs for educational, religious and corporate communities. This workshop requires a previous experience with Individual Recovery Work.

Focal Support Group Work for Racial Sobriety

This is an intensive program for leaders and individuals seeking a deep investigation of their racial perceptions and actions and how these play themselves out in daily thoughts, actions and decision-making processes. The program is a series of 10 sessions with a group of participants working with a Certified Facilitator. (Directory of Facilitators)

Training Opportunities

Executive Leadership Training

This is a 12 hour workshop for leadership that presents the Recovery from Racisms® process as a tool to get the organization on the "same page" in their conversation on race. It offers a new paradigm for seeing the work that an organization will have to embrace and maintain racial sobriety as an integral part of their organizational culture.

Training as a Certified Facilitator in Racial Sobriety®

This is a 30 hour training program introduces the candidates to the concepts, insights and dynamics of the Recovery from Racisms® process. The training is usually a Friday, Saturday and Sunday experience. The Certified Facilitator assists individuals and groups with the understanding and designs programs and processes for further development in personal growth and construction of a culture of racial sobriety.(National Training Calendar)

Formation as a Licensed Trainer in Recovery from Racisms®

This is a 100 hour program for Certified Facilitators only. The mentorship and work takes the Certified Facilitator throughout the country assisting in training Certified Facilitators from diverse communities, institutions and corporate backgrounds in order to acquire the skills of designing effective training formats. The Licensed Trainer is able to train other trainers and certify facilitators. (Limited to Certified Facilitators)
